Pan-Orthodox Vespers on the Sunday of St. Mary of Egypt

April 2017 - 11:03On Sunday April 2nd, 2017, Orthodox clergy and faithful from the Greater Philadelphia area gathered for Vespers at St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Gradyville PA., a parish known for its large collection of saints' relics which it accumulated through the energetic efforts of its rector, Fr. John Perich.
Amongst the array of relics are vestments which St. Nikolaj (Velimirovic) wore. Present by their relics the "...great cloud of witnesses..." (Heb.12:1), gave an increased aura of holiness to the Vespers.
Lenten Vespers in North Canton

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej, on Sunday, March 2nd, clergy from the Cleveland Deanery gathered at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in North Canton for Lenten Vespers. The choir sang magnificently as those present joined the clergy in prayer and hymn.
Immediately following Vespers. the faithful gathered in the St. George Event Center. The Circle of Serbian Sisters offered a unique Lenten meal which featured food from both the Serbian tradition as well as Mediterranean fare.
Support for the peace and stability of the society

April 2017 - 8:43On the occasion of the foundation day of the Police of the Republic of Srpska and the 25th anniversary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska, His Grace Bishop Athanasije of Bihac-Petrovac attended a ceremony in Banski Dvor in Banja Luka on the 4th of April 2017.
Bishop Athanasije congratulated the jubilee to Mr. Dragan Lukac, Minister of Interiors, and all the members of the Ministry of Interiors, and wished them a successful work in maintaining peace, security and stability of the society.
The Akatihist at The Church of The Resurrection
5. April 2017 - 9:53On Friday evening, 18th/31st March 2017, the full Akathist Service was celebrated as part of the Compline and the Kanon of the Theotokos at the Catholicon of the Most Holy Church of the Resurrection.
The Choir Leader Archimandrite Aristovoulos was singing on the right and Mr. Alvanos on the left. The first part of the Salutations was recited by the leader of the Service, His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, the second part by Geronda Secretary-General Most Reverend Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, the third by Elder Kamarasis Archimandrite Nectarios and the fourth by Dragouman Archimandrite Matthew.
Gathering of the clergy of the Osijek-Polje Diocese
5. April 2017 - 8:57With the blessing of the His Grace Lukian, Bishop of Osijek-Polje and Baranja, clergy from the Borovo and Vukovar deanaries approached the Holy Sacrament of confession in the church of the Ascension in Trpinja, Slavonia, Croatia, on the 3rd of April 2017.
The Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was served by Bishop Basil of Srem, with the concelebration of the clergy of the Diocese of Osijek-Polje and Baranja: Protopresbyter-stavrofor Cedo Lukic, Bishop’s Dean of the Borovo Deanary; Protopresbyter Jovan Kovacevic from Mirkovci and Protodeacon Dragan from Borovo and Deacon Slobodan Vujasinovic from the Diocese of Srem (Syrmium).
First Great Lenten Clergy Seminar and Confessions
4. April 2017 - 14:32Priests from around the Eastern Diocese gathered at the St. Sava Cathedral in Parma, Ohio on Thursday, March 23rd for their first Lenten Seminar under the leadership of their recently-enthroned hierarch, His Grace Bishop Irinej.
Clergy from Florida to Maine, and as far west as Cincinnati, Ohio, began their multi-day gathering in prayer, celebrating Vespers on the eve of the feast of St. Sophronius of Jerusalem. The solemn, Lenten Vespers service was a fitting beginning for this seminar, which not only included discussion, lectures and a practicum, but also clergy confession.
