Church purchased in Auckland, New Zealand

To the delight of many Serbian Orthodox believers living in Auckland and Hamilton in New Zealand, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand , an existing presbyterian church was purchased  that will be a new church devoted to Saint King Milutin. The church was built in the beginning of the last century and is located in central part of Auckland.

Bishops Atanasije and Teodosije visit Serbs in Žač

During Holy Liturgy on the patron saint's day of Dečani Monastery, news arrived that Serb returnees in the village of Žač, Istok municipality, were targeted by automatic gunfire at about 11 o'clock last night from a nearby road, and the closest tent was riddled with bullets. By God's providence, the seven or eight Serbs remaining in Žač (about twenty other returnees have temporarily retreated to northern Serbia due to previous attacks by Albanians) were in an adjacent half-destroyed house and with them were several KFOR soldiers (Slovenes) who, however, did nothing to stop the shooting nor begin the search for the perpetrators.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej meets with Dragan Djilas, Mayor of Belgrade

Today in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch received a visit of Mr. Dragan Djilas, Mayor of the Serbian caputal, with associates.

Days of Slavic Literacy and Culture

This year in all dioceses of the Moscow Patriarchate, including the Outside, events and services will be organized on the occasion of the Days of Slavic Literacy and Culture. Hence Patriarch Kyrril of Moscow and All Russia issued a decree.

This holiday will be for the first time celebrated in Azerbaijan.

The newly appointed representative of the World Russian People’s Council to the United Nations visits the Church of St. Catherin

On 16 May 2010, the seventh Sunday after Pascha and the commemoration day of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, archpriest Igor Vyzhanov concelebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Moscow Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr in-the-Fields, representation of the Orthodox Church in America to the Russian Orthodox Church, at the invitation of its rector, archimandrite Zacchaeus (Wood). The Revd. Igor was appointed to St. Nicholas Church in New York and representative of the World Russian People's Council to the United Nations by the Holy Synod on 5 March 2010.

Holy Liturgy in Gračanica Monastery on the feast of St. Athanasius the Great the Archbishop of Alexandria

The monastery of Gračanica today celebrated the feast of St. Athanasius the Great and the name day of Bishop Atanasije (Athanasius), the administrator of the Diocese of Raška-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija. Bishop Atanasije served Holy Liturgy with the concelebration of his deputy, Vicar Bishop Teodosije, and eight priests. In addition to the sisters of Gračanica Monastery and the nuns of Končul Monastery, the monks of Dečani and approximately ten faithful from Gračanica also took part in the Liturgy.
