Russia acquires land near Eiffel Tower, plans Orthodox center

February 2010 - 10:17Russia has defeated Canada and Saudi Arabia in a tender for a plot of land in downtown Paris and will build a spiritual and cultural center on the banks of the Seine River near the Eiffel Tower. France's Budget Ministry said in a statement on Monday that Russia had offered the highest price for the land, but did not elaborate on the figure. The plot of land on the Branly Quay is currently occupied by the French national meteorological service, Meteo France, which is expected to be relocated in 2011.

February 2010 - 12:32Today, on the day when the Serbian Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrates St. Gregory the Theologian and St. Publius, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia has served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the church of St. Basil of Ostrog on Bezanijska kosa in Belgrade. Patriarch served with the concelebration of priests and deacons from the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovac and the Diocese of Nis.

6. February 2010 - 21:56On Friday,February 5 2010, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia received an official visit from the Apostolic Nuncio in Belgrade Monsignor Orlando Antonini.
During the cordial and friendly talks on bilateral relations and the place of the Church in contemporary society also participated the members of the Holy Synod, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Irinej of Bachka.
Ambassador of Italy visits Patriarch Irinej of Serbia
5. February 2010 - 20:16His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia received today an official visit of His Excellency Mr. Armando Varichio, the Ambassador of Italy. Meeting was also attended by vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno. During a cordial and warm conversation, Ambassador thanked His Holiness on the reception, and then pointed out that Patriarch of Serbia was in the service of God and people.
Patriarch of Serbia said after the warm words of welcome that he was happy that he had the opportunity to host the high representative of the Republic of Italy.
