U.S. State Department on the restrictions of religious freedom in R. Macedonia
29. October 2009 - 9:32On 26th October, the U.S. State Department published its Religious Freedom Report 2009 for Macedonia. A significant part of the Report is dedicated exactly to the restrictions of the religious freedom that the Government of R. Macedonia is imposing upon the Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje Jovan and the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric.

Alexeyev, and the Moscow Patriarchate representative to the Orthodox Church in America, Archimandrite Zacchaeus (Wood).
Celebration of St Paraskeva on Chukarica

October 2009 - 14:35Today has been formally celebrated a feast day dedicated to Venerable Mother Paraskeva the Serbian with a Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the church on Chukarica, which is devoted to this great Christian ascetic. The Holy Liturgy was served by His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral with the concelebration of fifteen priests and seven deacons.
During the Holy Liturgy, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, Metropolitan Amfilohije ordained Jovan Lucic a presbyter, the previous deacon of this holy church. A great deal of faithful people gathered at the Holy Liturgy to celebrate in prayers Saint Paraskeva, our patroness and prayer before the Lord.

October 2009 - 14:18His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew gave an audience yesterday Tuesday, Oct. 27, to the Orthodox Primates of the USA, most of whom were present the previous evening for the Ninth Annual Orthodox Prayer Service for the United Nations Community. Present at the audience were Archbishop Demetrios of America (Greek Orthodox Archdiocese); Metropolitan Philip (Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese); Metropolitan Christopher (Serbian Orthodox Archdiocese); Metropolitan Nicholas (Carpatho - Russian Diocese); Archbishop Nicolae (Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese); Metropolitan Jonah (Orthodox Church in America), Metropolitan Constantine (Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the USA); Bishop Ilia (Albanian Orthodox Diocese) and Archpriest Alexander Abramov (Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in the USA). Archbishop Demetrios welcomed His All Holiness on behalf of the Primates.
