Elder Amphilochios (Makris) canonized by Ecumenical Patriarchate
4. September 2018 - 14:33The Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate resolved to canonize Elder Amphilochios (Makris) of Patmos at its session today, reports vimaorthodoxia.
Elder Amphilochios was a monk of the St. John the Theologian Monastery on the island of Patmos, where St. John the Evangelist received the Divine revelation that became the book of Revelation. The elder also served as the abbot of the monastery. He also established women’s monasteries and an orphanage.

3. September 2018 - 15:02His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia have met at the Throne Hall of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the Phanar quarter in Istanbul.
Participating in the meeting were Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR vice-chairman, and members of the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
Fraternal meeting of Primates of Church of Constantinople and Russian Orthodox Church
3. September 2018 - 12:10On August 31, 2018, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, arrived in Istanbul. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church visited the Patriarchate of Constantinople, where, accompanied by Metropolitans Emmanuel of France and Bartholomew of Smyrna, as well as Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR) and Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR vice-chairman, he venerated the shrines of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Protomartyr George.

A monastery inthe Metropolitan Diocese of Cluj will open an orphanage
2. September 2018 - 14:19Saints Peter and Paul monastery in Rebra-Parva, (diocese of Cluj, Romania) will build a center for orphaned children. Hegumen Kiril Zăgrean said the center will consist in a building for 50 children, a medical office, a canteen, and workshops. The children will have the opportunity to practice creative activities, including painting. There will also be a place of worship dedicated to Saint Silouan the Athonite, for the spiritual education of the children.
