As the Church celebrated the memory of St. Laurence the Fool for Christ of Kaluga yesterday, a portion of his holy relics was festively transferred to the monastery named in his honor in Kaluga.

Tsar Nicholas II conference to be held in England in October

A conference dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth and the 100th anniversary of the martyrdom of Russia’s last tsar, Royal Martyr Nicholas II will be held in Colchester, England in late October.

The conference will be held at St. John of Shanghai Orthodox Church in Colchester, England on Saturday, October 27.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, served the Holy Liturgy in the church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the Vidikovac District of Belgrade on the occasion of the patron’s feast-day of the church, on 19 August 2018.

His Holiness was concelebrated by priests of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac: protopresbyter-staurophorBrankoMitrovic, presbyters Nikola Gavric, Emil Milovanonvic and AleksandarMilutinovic, protodeacon RadomirPercevic and deacon Sinisa Duvnjak. There was a procession after which grapes were blessed that the faithful had brought for blessing.

On the 18th August 2018, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, continuing his missionary visit to Kenya, served the Liturgy at the Holy Church of St Makarios, within the Patriarchal Academy, concelebrating with the Elder Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi, the Bishops Neophytos of Nieri and Mount Kenya and Athanasios of Kisumu and West Kenya, and many other priests and deacons. The choir of the Patriarchal Academy chanted in Swahili, English and Greek.

A great spiritual event took place recently when the Divine Liturgy was served in the St. Thekla Monastery in Maaloula, Syria on August 12. This was the first Liturgy served there in several years after the city was taken over by terrorists and several of the nuns were kidnapped for several months, reports ekklisiaonline.gr.
