The Alexandrian Primate meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt

On 31st October 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, as part of his presence at the 2nd International conference on "Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East" taking place in Athens, had a courtesy visit with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arabic Republic of Egypt Mr Sameh Shoukry.

On 1st  November 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, as part of his brief stay in Greece to participate in the 2nd International Conference on “Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East” held in Athens, had a courtesy visit with His Excellency the Naval Chief of Egypt Mr. Rear Hassan, in the presence of His Excellency the Egyptian Ambassador to Greece Mr. Mohamed Monib.

On October 31, 2017, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), attended a festive reception given at the Pashkov House to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

On an official visit to the Romanian Orthodox Church last week, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia spoke of the rebirth of Orthodoxy in both Russia and Romania, following the fall of communism in both countries. According to the primate, the number of faithful included in the flock of the Russian Orthodox Church worldwide has reached 180 million, reports RIA-Novosti.

Patriarch and President open “Wall of Sorrow” memorial for victims of repression

A monument dedicated to the victims of political repression was opened yesterday in Moscow by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and President Vladimir Putin. The patriarch urged all gathered for the opening of the “Wall of Sorrow” to never forget the terrible repressions of the previous century, and that the victims were real people and the ancestors of Russians living today, reports Interfax-Religion.
