Joint Declaration by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby

On 21 November 2017, a meeting between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby took place in Moscow. As the result of the meeting, a joint declaration was signed. Its text is given below.

"Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword? As it is written, ‘For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.’ " (Romans 8. 35-37)

Historic Saint George Cathedral of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Reopens after Renovation

Saint George Cathedral, the official seat of the Ecumenical Patriarch has reopened after the completion of restoration works in Istanbul. The cathedral is UNESCO world heritage site. His All Holiness Bartholomew – Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch presided over the reopening ceremony 0n 19th November 2017.

On 21 November 2017, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the DECR, met with the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. and Rt. Hon. Justin Welby. Talks were held with the delegation of the Church of England accompanying the Archbishop on his visit to Moscow.

DECR chairman attends meeting of Organizing Committee of Days of Russia in foreign countries

he Organizing Committee of the Days of Russia in foreign countries, which include religious activities, held a regular meeting at the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture. It was chaired by the committee cochairmen: Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR), and Ms. Manilova, deputy minister of culture.
