His Beatitude John X has designated His Grace Bishop Ignacio Samaan patriarchal vicar to Venezuella and the Islands of the Caribbean Sea and Rev. Archimandrite Fady Rabbat patriarchal vicar too, to Mexico and Central America, after the widowhood of the Archdiocese of Mexico, Venezuela, Central America and the Islands of the Caribbean Sea, because of the repose of His Eminence Metropolitan Antonio Chedraou.

The visit of His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos at the Ecumenical Patriarchate and later on to Cappadocia began on Friday, 3rd/ 16th June 2017. His Beatitude was invited by the All-Holy Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos for this visit, as the latter has undertaken pilgrimage tours to Churches and Holy Monasteries of our nation which have been deserted since the exchange of populations in 1922.

Mobile chapel of St. Elijah consecrated for Belarusian soldiers

The first mobile chapel in honor of the prophet St. Elijah was consecrated on June 7 for the soldiers of the 38th Division Assault Brigade in Brest, Belarus. The rite of consecration was celebrated by Archbishop John of Brest and Kobryn before the beginning of the international Belarusian-Russian-Serbian “Slavic Brotherhood 2017” tactical training, reports the site of the Brest Diocese.

Bishop Irinej offers condolences on repose of Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago

His Grace Bishop Irinej of the Diocese of Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church sent a letter to His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America expressing his condolences and offering prayers for the repose of His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of the Archdiocesan Metropolis of Chicago. Metropolitan Iakovos (89) fell asleep in the Lord on Friday evening, June 2, 2017 at Chicago's Weiss Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A detailed tribute and biography of the late Metropolitan, who has overseen the Metropolis of Chicago since May 1, 1979, is available on the web site of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Bishop Nicholas Baalbaki is the new Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Hama and Dependencies

The Holy Orthodox Antiochian Synod has elected in its eighth extraordinary session held at Balamand, and presided by His Beatitude John X, his grace bishop Nicholas Baalbaki as Metropolitan to the Archdiocese of Hama and Dependencies to succeed the late Metropolitan Elia Saliba. It is worth mentioning that the first nomination to the vacant position had occurred by the Archdiocese’s convention consisting of clergy and laymen. The convention had introduced 6 candidates to the Holy Synod from whom the Holy Synod elected the new Metropolitan to Hama.
