“Hagia Sophia” of Bursa was demolished

The St. Georgios Greek Orthodox Church, which was restored and transformed into a cultural centre by the Nilüfer Municipality in Bursa, was taken from the municipality and transferred to an Islamic Foundation.

The historical building, which was neglected for 7 years, was destroyed last night, as reported by Gazete Duvar, according to greekcitytimes.com.

Metropolis of Korea: Conversion of Chora Church is an act of disrespect

The Orthodox Metropolis of Korea condemned the Turkish government’s decision to convert the Chora Church into a mosque.

As stated in a relevant announcement, the Metropolis says that it is an act of disrespect on the part of Turkey, towards the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the world cultural heritage.

The beginning of the school year in the Seminary of Foca

His Eminence Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of Sts. Basil of Ostrog and Peter of Cetinje at the Theological Seminary of Saint Peter of Dabar-Bosnia in Foca on 31 August 2020.

The Hierarch was concelebrated by protopresbyter Aleksandar Vidakovic, protopriest Ljubomir Prijovic, acting rector of the Seminary; presbyters Milos Janjic and Ranko Kovac, teacher of the Seminary, and deacons Budimir Gardovic and teacher Sinisa Bozic. At the end of the Holy Liturgy a rite of invocation of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the new school year 2020/21 was performed.

Patriarch of Alexandria at Saint Athanasios Parish in Kypseli, Athens
