For the first time since 2010, Divine Liturgy at Panagia Soumela on August 15th

On Saturday, August 15, 2020, the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the Monastery of Panagia Soumela in Trabzon, Pontus.  The Liturgy on the great Mother of God feast will be performed by Metropolitans Stefanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Maximos of Selyvria and Ioannis of Zambia, Hierarch of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

Memorial rite (panichida) for the victims on the Petrovacka cesta

25 years since the horrific crime when a column of refugees expelled in the "Storm" military action was bombed on the on Petrovacka cesta (road).

His Grace Sergije, Bishop of Bihac-Petrovac, performed a memorial service for innocent Serbian civilians in a refugee column a quarter of a century ago on Petrovacka cesta, in the village of Janjila near Bosanski Petrovac. The rite took place on August 7, 2020.

Eminent theologian Father Boris Bobrinskoy passed away

One of the most prominent Orthodox theologians in the West, Father Boris Bobrinskoy, passed away yesterday, August 6, 2020.  He was born in Paris on February 25, 1925, to Russian parents who immigrated to France after the 1917 Russian Revolution. He studied in an orthodox environment in Paris, but also in Catholic and Protestant Theological Departments. His theological thought was influenced by Father George Florovsky, Father Nikolay Afanasiev, Father Alexander Smeman, Father Cyprian Kern and Vladimir Losky.

The Primate of Alexandria on the side of the Patriarch of Antioch

Feast of the Transfiguration in Halki

The Abbot, Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos officiated at the Great Vespers, at the celebrating Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegial Skete of the Transfiguration of Christ in Halki, the care of which has been entrusted to the Theological School, that was held yesterday, on the eve of the feast. Today, August 6, the Orthros and Archieratical Divine Liturgy were celebrated by Metropolitan Stefanos of Kallioupolis.
