Elder Ephraim opposed recognition of Ukrainian schismatics, Metropolitan of Morphou says

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy on December 13, 2019, on the Feast of St. Andrew the First-Called - the Patron Saint-day (slava) of the Royal family Karadjordjevic, at the Beli dvor in Belgrade.

The Serbian Patriarch was concelebrated by protopresbyter-staurophors Branko Mitrovic and Bozo Bakajlic, protodeacon Damjan Bozic and deacon Vladimir Rumenic, in a prayerful presence of Their Graces Bishops: Lavrentije of Sabac, Jovan of Sumadija, Atanasije of Mileseva, Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic and Isihije of Mohacs.

The Orthodox Bishops’ Conference of Benelux (CEOB) met at the seat of the Metropolis of Belgium in Brussels on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, chaired by Metropolitan Athinagoras of Belgium. Bishop Markos (Patriarchate of Romania) and Bishop Dositheus (Patriarchate of Georgia) also participated in the meeting.

Byzantine chant joins UNESCO list on intangible cultural heritage

UNESCO has inscribed Byzantine chant in Cyprus and Greece on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, In Cyprus reported.

The decision was taken by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage meeting in Bogota which inscribed one more element on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding and nine elements on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, hosted a reception for principals of elementary and secondary schools in the territory of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovac, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 12 December 2019.

The festive reception began with Lord's Prayer sung by a choir of students from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Belgrade, whereupon the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church held a welcome speech.
