Memorial Service in Pakrac

His Grace Jovan, Bishop of Slavonia,  served a memorial service for the Serbs who suffered during  the “Storm” in 1995. The event took place in the Cathedral church of the Holy Trinity in Pakrac, Croatia, on August 5, 2020. 

Memorial Service for the Serbs who suffered in Derez in 1941

His Grace Jovan, Bishop of Slavonia, served a memorial rite for the repose of souls of the victims of the village of Dereza who were murdered in August 1942. The church rite was performed on August 4, 2020.

A memorial service was held for all the innocent victims of the pogrom of the Serbian people during the Croatian military-police action “Storm” in 1995. The memorial rite was served by His Grace Heruvim with concelebration of the clergy of the Diocese of Osijek-Polje and Baranja., in the Cathedral church of the Translation of the Relics of Saint Nicholas, the Miracle Worker, in Vukovar on Monday, August 3, 2020.

The Serbian Orthodox church at Markusica, Croatia, was broken into on the 1st of August 2020. A broken door at the southern entrance to the church was first discovered by a sacristan, thereafter he found out that the interior of the church had been searched into. A small amount of money was stolen, while the inventory remained intact. Police have conducted an investigation, and an investigation is underway, archpriest-staurophore Dobrivoj Filipovic reports.

Metropolitan Porfirije: War is a defeat of all

On the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the military action “Storm”, on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana, served as a memorial service for the innocent victims of the war in the 1990s.

Surrounded by the clergy of the Cathedral in Zagreb, representatives of the Serbian National Council and of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia and the faithful, Metropolitan Porfirije served an annual memorial service for the victims of the “Storm”, but also in the days immediately following that military action.

On the 8th Sunday after Pentecost, and on the feast day of the Holy Prophet Elijah, Bishop Irinej of the Serbian Eastern American Diocese presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. Eleftherios for the Serbian Orthodox Community in New York City.
