Pilgrimage to The Holy Protection Monastery

On Saturday July 29 th a group of faithful from St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Elkins Park, PA., made a pilgrimage to The Holy Protection Greek Orthodox Monastery located in the beautiful Pocono mountain region of Eastern PA. Founded by the well-known Elder Ephraim from Mt. Athos in 1993 on a site that was formerly the Whitehaven Sanitorium for Tuberculosis, this beautiful Monastery (part of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh) was completed in 2006. The beautiful handiwork of the sisters: writing icons, making candles, baking, and sewing supports this monastery, as do the donations of Orthodox Christians pilgrims and faithful.

3rd annual Serbian Festival in North Canton

On Saturday, July 15th, the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church community held their third-annual Serbian Festival, “SerbFest”.

Celebration of Saint Angelina at monastery in Ohio

On the eighth Sunday after Pentecost, on July 30, 2017, His Grace Irinej, Bishop of the Eastern-American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, served the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy at St. Mark’s Monastery in Sheffield Village, Ohio. The service was not only in honor of the feast of St. Angelina, but also marked the end of the camping season.

Slava at New Marcha Monastery

Wednesday 26 June 2017, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America made his first canonical visit to Monastery New Marcha and its church dedicated to the Archangel Gabriel for the celebration of the Monastery’s Slava.

The previous evening Vespers were served by Archimandrite Leontije (Alavanja), Abbot of St. Mark Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Sheffield, OH. Monastery New Marcha was blessed to have in attendance for the Vespers Mother Christophora, Abbess of Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Ellwood City, PA (OCA-Romanian) and several sisters from her monastery.  A light meal was served after Vespers.

Saint Despot Stephen celebrated in the capital

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the Ascension of the Lord in Belgrade on 1 August 2017.

He was concelebrated by the local clergy.
