Patriarch celebrated in the church of Saint Gabriel the Archangel

On Mother's Day and the feast day of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker, 25 Decenver 2016, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the church of Saint Gabriel the Archangel in Belgrade.

He was concelebrated by priests of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac with a song Gavrilcici.

Patriarch Irinej receives Bishop Nazarius of Kronstadt

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received His Grace Nazarius, Bishop of Kronstadt, Vicar Bishop of the Diocese of Sankt Petersburg and the head of the laura of Saint AleksanderNevsky, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 21 December 2016.

His Grace Arsenije of Toplica, Vicar Bishop of the Serbian Patriarch and the head of Saint Sava Cathedral in the Vracar District of Belgrade, and protopresbyter Vitaly Tarasyev, the dean of the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate to Belgrade, attended the reception.

Patron Saint-day of the church of Saint Nicholas in Pristina

- Saint Nicholas has neither left this church which was burnt, nor has left Christians who have remained in Pristina. With restoration of this church we show that in these life conditions one may serve the Liturgy and praise the Lord, and by celebrating Liturgies each year we restore the life in Pristina as well.

These words, pronounced after the Holy Liturgy in the church of Saint Nicholas in Pristina, were addressed to the present congregation by Bishop Teodosije of Rasko-Prizren. Emphasizing that this church was burnt in riots in 2004 and that a part of its property had been still occupied, Bishop Teodosije pointed out that the duty of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren was to testify continuously to the conditions of life the Church was facing along with her pious people on Kosovo and Metohija and to advocate that life conditions and respect for fundamental rights have to be improved.

The Feast-day of Saint Nicholas celebrated in Nurnberg

The feast-day of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra, the patron saint-day of Bishop Sergije, was solemnly celebrated in the church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Nurnberg on 19 December 2016.

On the eve of the feast-day, His Grace Bishop Sergije of Frankfurt and All Germany officiated the Vesper service in attendance of His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Arianna (Ecumenical Patriarchate). On the very feast-day Bishop Bartholomew of Arianna officiated the Holy Liturgy with the concelebration of Metropolitan Seraphim of Germany, Central and North Europe (the Romanian Patriarchate), Bishop Sergije of Frankfurt and All Germany and protopresbyter-staurophor Sotirios (Ecumenical Patriarchate) and some local parish priests.

Role of priests in war times

With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, the Association of War Volunteers 1912-1918 and of their descendants and admirers organized a scientific meeting on the topic “The Role and significance of priests in the Balkan Wars and the First World War”, held at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 20 December 2016.

Saint Mardarije of Libertyville - Gift to America

The Commemoration of St. Mardarije (December 12), began on Sunday, 12/11/16, with Hierarchical Liturgy at Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Chicago celebrated by Metropolitan Amfilohije (Montenegro and Coastlands), Bishop Longin (New Gracanica-Midwest America), Bishop Maxim (Western America), Bishop Irinej (Eastern America) and Bishop Kirilo (of Diocletia, assistant administrator of South America) along with Cathedral clergy Fr. Darko Spasojevic, Fr. Radovan Jakovljevic, Protodeacons Milovan Gogic, Pavle Starcevic and deacons Nenad Jakovljevic and Jovan Anicic.
