In Memoriam: Very Rev. Dennis Pavichevich

With faith in Christ and hope in the resurrection, we share the news of the repose of Alumnus Very Rev. Dennis Pavichevich. Fr. Dennis fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at the age of 72.

Fr. Dennis Pavichevich (Dragoljub Pavicevic) began his theological studies at St. Sava Seminary in Belgrade, Serbia. He returned to the United States after two years and completed his undergraduate studies at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science in 1972. Fr. Dennis graduated from Saint Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in 1975 with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree.

His Holiness Irinej, the Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Liturgy in the church of the Holy Great-martyr Prince Lazarus - Lazarica in Birmingham, England, on 7 October 2018.

Two anniversaries, 70 years since the founding of the Church Community of Birmingham and 50 years since the consecration of the Lazarica church in Birmingham, gathered together at the Holy Liturgy His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana, Their Graces Bishops: Dositej of  Britiain-Scandinavia, Andrej of Austria-Switzerland and Arsenije of Nis from the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as several Hierarchs from sister Orthodox Churches and a large number of high guests.

The Minister of Defense, Mr. Aleksandar Vulin attended the 3rd Festival of Christian Culture in Zajecar, Serbia, on October 6, 2018 and, accompanied by some high-ranking officers of the Serbian Armed Forces visited the Cathedral church.

The Minister then had a meeting with Bishop Ilarion of the Timok (Eastern Serbia), who is in charge of ministry of the Orthodox military priests in the Ministry of Defense and in the Army of Serbia. On this occasion, Minister Vulin pointed out that the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia had been paying great attention to the religious ministry.

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej arrived in the afternoon of October 6, 2018, in Coventry, one of the historic and cultural centers of Great Britain, where he was welcomed by His Grace Bishop of Coventry Christopher Cocksworth.

His Holiness the Patriarch is accompanied by are the His Eminence Porfirije, Metropolitan of Zagreb-Ljubljana; Their Graces Dositej of Britain-Scandinavia; Andrej of Austria-Switzerland, and Arsenije of Nis as well as the parish-piest Nenad Popovic from Birmingham Lazarica, protodeacon Damjan Bozic and Mr. Vladimir Jelic.

Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej together with His Grace Jefrem, Diocesan Bishop of Banja Luka, consecrated a completely  new dedicated to the Holy Equal-to-the Apostles Emperor Constantine and Helen in the village of Mrčevci near Laktaši, on 6 October 2018.

The “god-fathers”of the church were the President of the Republic of Srpska Mr. Milorad Dodik and the Chairman of the Committee for the Church Construction, Mr. Dragoljub Davidovic, who received charters.
