Patron Saint-Day of Holy Archangel Gabriel Monastery in Kovilj

Патријарх Порфирије: The angelic world was created to serve our salvation. In addition to being patron angels, they are also role models in their determination to serve constantly, uninterruptedly, tirelessly the will of God, the love of God, and the Church of God, that is, us people. We need to look up to angels; to try to turn our whole life into a constant service of God.

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Holy Archangel Gabriel Monastery in Kovilj, on the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of that holy family - the Synaxis of the Holy Archangel Gabriel. The Patriarch was concelebrated by Their Graces Isihije of Valjevo, Jerotej of Toplica, elected Bishops Justin of Hvosno, Sava of Marca, monks, clergy and deacons from many dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Orthodox primates congratulated the 60th birthday to Serbian Patriarch Porfirije

On the occasion of his 60th birthday His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, received congratulations from Orthodox primates, hierarchs, clergy, Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, representatives of other churches and religious communities, ambassadors, as well as numerous believers from the Homeland and the world.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church does not mark the day of his birth, but, nevertheless, on that occasion, as a sign of attention and love, he received numerous congratulations from the Orthodox world, among which are letters from Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Patriarch Daniel of Romania, Archbishop Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, and Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

The Serbian Patriarch received Ministry of Rural Welfare and the President of the SASA Committee for the Village

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, received Minister of Rural Welfare Mr. Milan Krkobabic and President of the Academic Committee for the Village, SASA academician Dragan Skoric, at the Patriarchate Palace in Belgrade on 21 July 2021.

During the meeting with Minister Krkobabic and academician Skoric, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church pointed out that he was happy because the state of Serbia recognized the importance of caring for the village and initiated mechanisms for systemically solving problems that hinder or prevent the survival of people in villages. According to Patriarch Porfirije, who as the abbot of the Kovilj monastery gained decades of experience in managing the monastery's agricultural farm, there are many open questions regarding the survival of the village, to which adequate answers must be found with the participation of all relevant factors. The Patriarch emphasized that the Serbian Orthodox Church will help according to all available possibilities.

Serbian Patriarch receives Director of the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and the Serbs in the region

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, received Director of the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and the Serbs in the Region Mr. Arnaud Gouillon at the Patriarchate Palace in Belgrade on 21 July 2021.

During the meeting with Director Gouillon, the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church discussed projects that promote cooperation and ties between Serbs in the world, the region and the homeland. Patriarch Porfirije expressed satisfaction that the Serbian Orthodox Church has a key role in that process and stressed the importance of holy worship, religious education and the Serbian language, folklore events and spiritual and scientific lectures in Serbian Orthodox churches around the world.

Delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kiev at the celebration of the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Russia

Responding with joy to the invitation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, sent his Vicar Bishops Stefan of Remesiana, and Jerotej of Toplica to represent the Serbian Patriarchate in Kiev on July 27 and 28, 2021, at the solemn celebration of the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Russia and the day when the Orthodox Church celebrates the Holy Apostolic Grand Duke Vladimir.

The celebration of this great holiday will begin on July 27 with the traditional act of thanksgiving on Mt. Vladimir in Kiev, which will be officiated  by Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine. At the foot of the monument to the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, miraculous icons of the Most Holy Mother of God will be exhibited: Pochayev, Svyatogorsk, Kasperov and Zimne, icons of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir with a particle of his holy relics, as well as many great shrines from all over Ukraine.
