Professors and students of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University in Belgrade prayerfully celebrated their Patron Saint-day – the feast day of Saint Sava, Serbian Archbishop.

In the presence of many students, professors and guests, a number of priests celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the side chapel of John the Theologian. Following the Liturgy there was the Saint Sava Academy, which was blessed and opened by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch.

Reestablishment of Serbian Orthodox Teachers and Youth Association

With the Blessings of the Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America and the support of the Central Church Council, we  announce the reestablishment of the Serbian Orthodox Teachers and Youth Association (SOTAYA). The purpose of this ministry is to unite the teachers, young adults, and youth members of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Dioceses throughout North and South America. It is a special forum through which people will be brought closer together through a ministry of faith and fellowship.

With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, on 9 November 2012 a third symposium was held with a general theme Enlightenment and Growing Up, organized by the Republic Center for Family Planning, Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia “Dr Vukan Čupić” and the Association for Peadiatric and Adolescent Gynecology of Serbia.

At the October Inventors Conference which is held for the thirty-fourth time in Serbia, in Idvor, Banat, a birthplace of Michael Idvorsky Pupin, on October 9, 2012 the awards of the Pupin Fund of the Mladen Selak Foundation were presented in five categories.

This year's jury with Mr. Djura Borak as its president, presented two Pupin medals, for the outstanding contribution to the development of the innovation movement which has Pupin as its trademark. The president of SASA Mr. Nikola Hajdin and humanist and founder of the Foundation that actively encourage economic development and works on the preservation of the Pupin Fund Mr. Mladen Selak presented these medals. One of the prizewinners of this medal is protopresbyter-staurophor Savo B. Jovic, chief secretary of the Holy Synod of Bishops the Serbian Orthodox Church, for the book Christ's Svetosavac Michael Pupin.

170th anniversary of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts

The Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts has marked the 170th anniversary of its foundation. During the introductory part of the ceremony, Serbian President Boris Tadic said that the Academy is expected to be an institution that will participate in the development, reformation and modernization of society and which will ensure independence of strategic assessment, measures and risks of primary, economic, technological and socio-economic development.
