IAO one-day conference on World War II – ‘Christian viewpoint: 70 years Later’ held

Dusseldorf: The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) organized a one-day conference with subject: «World War II – Christian viewpoint: 70 years later». Distinguished personalities from Christian Churches and communities, politicians and diplomats were invited and presented speeches on the main subject of the conference.

New Syriac Theological Seminary in Salzburg Inaugurated by Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II

Austria: His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurated the new Syriac Theological Seminary in Salzburg (Beth Suryoye). His Excellency Archbishop of Salzburg Mgr. Dr. Franz Lackner also attended the inauguration ceremony and the prayer of the blessing of the house.

OCP Publications, the publications division of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE is getting ready for one of our biggest Pan-Orthodox Christian book release said Varghese John (Director- Dept. of Publications).The book is written by George Alexander ( Secretary of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE) and will feature personal reflections on global Pan-Orthodox Christian Unity. The entire work focuses on the need for establishing sacramental communion between Eastern and Oriental Orthodox families of Churches. The author calls for creating a common platform for Orthodox Churches and to establish dialogues between Easter, Oriental, Old Believes, Old Calendar, Non-canonical, Unrecognized and New Generation Orthodox Churches. This will be the third book from the house of OCP.

His Holiness Aram I inaugurates the 86th Scholastic Year of the Seminary

12 October 2015. The Feast of the Holy Translators, which inaugurates the new school year of the Seminary, celebrates the discovery of the Armenian alphabet in 405, which made it possible to translate the Holy Bible into Armenian.

On Saturday 11 October in the morning Rev Fr. Torkom Donoyan, Dean of the Seminary celebrated the Holy Liturgy, presided over by His Holiness Aram I and with the participation of the newly admitted seminarians.

Ethiopian Orthodox Church to Address Declining Number of Faithful

His Holiness Abune Mathias – Patriarch of Ethiopia said the church cannot keep loosing her faithful. The Patriarch expressed his concern during the 34th annual general meeting of “Sebeka – Gubae” (council of church members and department representatives ) on 18th October 2015.

Reports of different dioceses, Synodal departments, Church organisations were presented.

The annual session of holy synod will be held from 21st of October 2015 and it is believed that the major objective will be to develop various strategies to counter the declining number of Orthodox population in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Orthodox has lost a considerable number of faithful to Evangelical and Pentecostal movements in the country.

Metropolitan Hilarion meets with Pope Francis

  On 21 October 2015, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, the DECR chairman, met with Pope Francis at the “Domus Sanctae Marthae” hotel in Vatican.

Pope Francis thanked Metropolitan Hilarion for greetings he brought to the 14th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops of the Catholic Church and conveyed his best wishes to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
