Church slava in Saratoga

On Sunday, November 22nd St. Archangel Michael Church celebrated it's Annual Krsna Slava. But this year Slava was special and unique in several ways.

Firstly, His Grace Bishop Maxim came in full capacity as our diocesan Bishop and served Hierarchical Divine Liturgy along with seven priests including the host Fr. Slobodan Jovic, whom His Grace found worthy to be elevated into the rank of protopresbyter-stavrophor.

Patron Saint's Day of Monastery of Zdrebaonik

The feast day of Saint Arsenius of Srem, the second Serbian Archbishop, whose relics lay in this monastery, was celebrated with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy and cutting the slava cake at the monastery of Zdrebaonik near Danilovgrad. His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral served with the concelebration of Their Graces Bishops Konstantin of Middle Europe, Joanikije of Budimlje and Nikshic and Jovan od Dioclea and the priesthood of Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral.

Bishop Longin celebrates Hierarchal Liturgy at Saint George Parish in Joliet, IL

On the twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost, November 8, 2009, the feastday of St. Demetrios of Thesssaloniki, His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwestern America, offiiciated at the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Joliet, Illinois. Concelebrating were Fr. Nedeljko Lunich, the local priest, Fr. Lazar Kostur, retired priest from the Merrillville parish and Protodeacon Milovan Gogic. Assisting in the altar were Seminary graduates Nikolaj Kostur and Nenad Jakovljevic and Reader David Laketa, together with a group of altar boys.

Floods made lots of damage to monastery of Mileshevo

On the eve of the feast day of St Dimitrios, heavy rains hit areas of Polimlje and Rashka, which directly cause the Mileshevka river to overflow and hence it flooded a part of the estate of the monastery of Mileshevo. During this happening, a torrent of water destroyed all monastery crops, as well as the supplies of wood prepared for the upcoming winter. His Grace Bishop Filaret urged the faitful people to participate in the repair of the caused damage.

Your Eminence, beloved brother Milutin, in the name of His Beatitude Patriarch of Alexandria Theodoros the Second, priests and faithful of this metropolis, I would like to wish you a warm welcome and kindly ask for your prayers for the advancement of Orthodox Church in Africa and Serbia and for our Churches to continue to exist through their spiritual and missionary work.
