Bishop Maxim in Denver, Colorado

On Sunday, January 10, 2010, on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers and the day we commemorate the Holy 20,000 Maryrs of Nicomedia, His Grace Bishop Maxim of Western America made an archpastoral visit to the parish of St. John the Baptist in the state of Colorado. This visit was made all the more festive and significant since His Grace, the bishop, was greeted by the faithful from two Orthodox parishes, St. John's and St. Herman of Alaska (OCA).

On the feast day of the Holy Archdeacon and Protomartyr Stephen, January 9, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Shumadia visited the hospital "Despot Stefan Visoki" in Smederevska Palanka. On that occasion Bishop with the priesthood consecrated the land, laid the cornerstone and the Holy Cross for the new church within the premises of the aforementioned hospital.

Today's feast day of the 20,000 Holy Martyrs of Nicomedia was officially celebrated with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the Vavedenje Monastery on Senjak in Belgrade. The Holy Hierarhal Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno. During the Holy Liturgy, Bishop presented the hagiography of the holiday, which formed a message to the people how to live in Christ and with Christ, as did all our ancestors.
