His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received today, on 7 November 2013,  Mr. Ivan Mrkic, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, at the Serbian Patriarchate.

Ornaments of Serbian medieval frescoes

The Museum of Applied Art stages the exhibition “Memory Update – Ornaments of Serbian Medieval Frescoes” on the 6th of November 2013 to mark this year’s anniversary of its founding. The exhibition will be open until 31st January 2014.

An interest in ornament as particular visual and semantic, as well as a linguistic phenomenon becomes more and more increasing in the visualization world of all segments of modern communication. An ornament is often used as a decoration, a pattern, a decorative detail in applied art and architecture but it also bears a broadest span of symbolical, culturological and religious meanings that are susceptible to various analyses and even mathematical reading and interpretation.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej honorary citizen of Zemun

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, received yesterday an award - the Honorary Citizen of Zemun with a medal - at a solemn session of the Assembly of the City Municipality of Zemun, held on the occasion of the Day of Zemun. 

The Patriarch received this dinstinction on the occasion of 5^th November, the Day of Zemun, which is marking the date when the Serbian army liberated this town in 1918.

Three centuries of the Metropolitanate of Karlovci

The Diocese of Srem is for the second time in the month the host to His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, and on this occasion the clergy, monks and the faithful gathered from all areas, in order to welcome Serbian Patriarch Irinej.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy with the concelebration of Their Graces Bishops: Vasilije of Srem, Lavrentije of Sabac, Irinej of Backa, Ignjatije of Branicevo, Lukijan of Osek-Polje, Hrizostom of Zvornik-Tuzla, Nikanor of Banat, Lukijan of Budim, David of Krusevac and Atanasije of Bihac-Petrovac. 

Patron Saint-day of the Monastery of Cetinje

The feast day of the Saint Luke the Apostle and the Evangelist and Saint Peter of Cetinje was celebrated in the Cetinje Monastery with the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy. His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral officiated the Divine Liturgy with the concelebration of Their Graces Bishops Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and retired Bishop Atanasije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina

Lots of priests concelebrated to Bishops, while the faithful from all areas of Montenegro, Serbia and Republic of Srpska prayerfully participated in the Liturgy. The liturgical gathering was held on the occasion of two jubilees: 150th anniversary of the Cetinje Seminary and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bishop Peter II Petrovic Njegos.
