Cyrillic alphabet - alphabet of the Serbian history, present and future

The convention regarding the topic " Cyrillic Alphabet in Information Society" was held on Thursday, April 14 in the parish house of the St. Sava Cathedral in the presence of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic and many invitees from public and cultural life.

Media Announcement – Paschal Epistle of the SOC 2011

His Holiness Patriarch IRINEJ of Serbia will read the Paschal Epistle of the Serbian Orthodox Church 2011 on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at noon, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade.

We call all representatives of media to accredit their journalists and cameramen no later than Tuesday, April 19 , 2011 at 2 P.M. Applications for an accreditation which contain a list of journalists and cameramen attending this event should be sent to info@spc.rs. Subsequent applications will not be accepted.

Patriarch Irinej awarded with "Captain Misa Anastastijevic" award

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch was awarded on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in a Great hall of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad the Captain Misa Anastasijevic award.  

Venerable St. Mary of Egypt

Venerable St. Mary of Egypt was born in 344 somewhere in Egypt and at the age of twelve ran away to the city of Alexandria where she lived an extremely dissolute life. According to her words, she was driven only"by an insatiable and an irrepressible passion". After seventeen years of this lifestyle, she travelled to Jerusalem by boat for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. She undertook the journey not for the religious reasons, but stating that she hoped to find in the pilgrim crowds at Jerusalem even more partners in her lust. She paid for her passage by offering her body to other pilgrims, and she continued her habitual lifestyle for a short time in Jerusalem.

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate was in a two-day visit to the Athenian Archbishopric on April 9th and 10th, 2011.
