Thousands flood Bucharest to remember Christ’s Entry into Jerusalem

Thousands of clergy and believers lined the streets of Bucharest to remember Christ’s glorious Entry into Jerusalem but also to profess their faith publicly during the annual Palm Sunday procession on Saturday afternoon.

The worshipers walked from Radu Voda Monastery where palm branches and willow branches were blessed during a short service officiated by the Assistant Bishop to the Bucharest Archdiocese, His Grace Timotei of Prahova.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expresses horror at Sri Lanka attacks

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his solidarity with the Sri Lankan people and voiced his horror at a series of explosions at churches and hotels that killed more than 200 people and injured hundreds during Easter observed by the Catholic Church.

His Holiness unambiguously condemned all acts of terror, as well as any act of hatred, violence and fundamentalism wherever they come from.

On St. Lazarus Saturday, 20 April 2019,  His Holiness Patriarch Irinej officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Cathedral church of Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade.

The prayerful celebration of St. Lazarus Saturday – the Patron Saint-day (slava) of Serbian Patriarch Irinej, began with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in Belgrade’s Cathedral Church by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, with the concelebration of His Grace Bishop Stefan of Remesiana and in the prayerful presence of His Grace Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac.

Archbishop Ieronymos officially invited the Ecumenical Patriarch to Athens

Bishop Symeon of Thespies, the Protosyncellos of the Archdiocese of Athens, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate on April 17. He was received by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, to whom he gave the invitation of the Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens to visit Greece and preside at the dedication of Saint Porphyrios center for Gerontology and Social Support in Dilesi, Central Greece, on May 23, in the presence of Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the President of the Hellenic Republic.

On March 31st, the 3rd Sunday Of Great and Holy Lent, The Sunday of the Cross, His Grace, Bishop Irinej, took the time out of his busy schedule to make his first-ever visit to our Parish.  He was welcomed by our beloved Prota Stevo Rocknage. 

Romanian Church opens addiction therapy center at monastery

The Romanian Orthodox Church opened and blessed a new addiction therapy center on Saturday, located at the Holy Annunciation Monastery in Tisa-Silvestri in northeast Romania.

The Life-Giving Spring center, intended for treatment of both alcohol and drug addictions, operates at the monastery as part of the Siloam Socio-Medical Association. The complex was blessed by His Eminence Archbishop Joachim of Bacău, reports the Basilica News Agency.
