Prayer for peace and unity at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest

November 2015 - 9:44Thousands of faithful gathered on Thursday evening, 05 November 2015, at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, together with His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, to pray for peace and unity, and to intercede for those who have passed away to the Lord and for the healing of those in hospitals, after the tragic accident which took place last week in Bucharest.
Head of Syriac Orthodox Church arrives in Russia

November 2015 - 16:10On 9 November 2015, the Primate of the Syriac Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, arrived in Russia on an official visit at the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. It is the first visit of His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II to the Russian Orthodox Church since his election to the Patriarchal Throne in March 2014.

New Documentary Tells the Story of the Only Functioning Greek Orthodox Church in Cuba
10. November 2015 - 11:51The Cuban Revolution overthrew the Batista regime on January 1st 1959. During Fidel Castro’s 49 year reign as Cuban Prime Minister and then President, there had not been any new churches in Cuba.

“A Beacon in Havana” is a short documentary that examines how the Saint Nicholas of Myra Greek Orthodox Church in Havana, Cuba came to be. The documentary looks into the role of the Church in Cuban society and Greek Orthodoxy in Cuba today.
St. Nicholas was actually built in 1950 as the St. Helen and Constantine Church. However, it never functioned as a church until 54 years later. In January 2004 the Church was renamed as the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and became the first functioning Greek Orthodox Church in Cuba.
Design Delta Architects Constructs First Byzantine-Style Greek Orthodox Monastery
9. November 2015 - 12:39Delta Architects (DDA) owned by Greek-Australian Demetrios Stavropoulos has undertaken the task of constructing Australia’s first Byzantine-style Greek Orthodox monastery on Mangrove Mountain near Sydney.
Pantanassa Monastery was first established under the initiative of Archbishop Stylianos back in 1976. In 2005 DDA began construction for the main church of Pantanassa Monastery, Catholicon, which is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God Pantanassa. Furthermore, in 2008, construction began on the monk’s living quarters, kitchen, refectory and library and continued until the late 2010 to a partial lock up stage, where it was put on hold for financial reasons, notes the monastery’s website.
The Patriarch of Alexandria gives courage and hope to the poor Christians of Northern Uganda

November 2015 - 12:36On Wednesday 4th November 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, continuing his Missionary journey to the rough region of Gulu in northern Uganda, visited the holy Churches of the Life-Giving Fountain, and the Archangel Gabriel as well as the adjacent school, literally built in the jungle, where the pupils afforded him an enthusiastic welcome.
