Theological Education in Focus at Orthodoxy in America Lecture

The theologians of tomorrow must be prepared to respond to ever-shifting contexts while contributing to the “ongoing symphony” of theology, a leading scholar told attendees at Fordham’s annual Orthodoxy in America lecture.

Waiting for the ‘Patriarch of the Nation’ to arrive in Belgium to celebrate the 50th anniversary

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will attend in November the celebrations on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Metropolis of Belgium and the Exarchate of the Netherlands and Luxembourg by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

The festal program will begin on November 5, in the presence of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. On the first day of celebrations, the Ecological Symposium will be held and there will be visits to temples in the Netherlands. 

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew goes to Sweden

The Ecumenical Patriarch will attend worship events on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding and operation of this Eparchy, as planned.

During his stay in Sweden, the Ecumenical Patriarch is scheduled to meet with Carl XVI Gustaf King of Sweden, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlen, as well as with the Lutheran Roman Catholic and ancient Eastern churches representatives.

His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch celebrates his name day

On the Repose of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John, His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and all East, celebrates his name day.

His Beatitude John X was born in 1955 in the city of Lattakia, Syria. His father Mounah Yazigi was from Lattakia, a teacher of the Arabic language. His mother Rosa Moussi is from Tripoli, Lebanon. They gave birth to four children – two boys and two girls.

Greek Hierarch Organizing Event On Dangers Of Yoga

“Yoga is not an exercise, but an act of worship,” teaches His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis of the Greek Orthodox Church, who is holding an event next Sunday to warn people about the dangers of Far Eastern spirituality.

“When we have repentance in church, whether it be a small confession or a big one, we don’t do it for fitness reasons. We make a confession to God. This is the same thing that people do during yoga, which is what we are trying to explain”, says Metropolitan Nektarios, reports Greek City Times.
