The Ecumenical Patriarch departed for Prague
14. October 2019 - 22:28Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departed for Prague on Monday afternoon, accompanied by Archdeacon Theodore.
On Tuesday, October 15, the Ecumenical Patriarch will attend the proceedings of the annual General Assembly of the International Organization “Forum 2000” where he will give aspeech entitled “Recovering the promise of 1989”.
Pec Patriarchate: Final Liturgical Celebration of Eight Centuries of the Autocephaly of the Serbian Church

October 2019 - 9:18The ancient historical and spiritual throne of the Autocephalous Church of Serbian and Maritime Lands was celebrated by the Divine Liturgy marking the end of liturgical celebrations of this great jubilee of our local Church. – The event took place in the Royal Laura of the Patriarchate of Pec monastery.
With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, the Liturgy was officiated by His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of the Montenegro-Littoral and Exarch of the Throne of Pec, with the concelebration and prayerful participation of twenty-two bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, several abbots and abbesses and clergymen from the Diocese of Raska-Prizren as well as from other dioceses of the Church.

The new Civil Governor of Mount Athos was sworn in
10. October 2019 - 8:57The new Civil Governor of Mount Athos, Athanasios Martinos, was sworn in at noon on Wednesday, in the presence of Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.
Aristos Kasmiroglou, who is expert in ecclesiastical affairs and has served as civil governor of Mount Athos until August 2018, was sworn in as Deputy Civil Governor. Aristos Kasmiroglou was replaced by decision of the Greek government.
Relics of St Spyridon to be brought to Bucharest this Saturday
9. October 2019 - 16:00The Romanian Patriarchate has announced that the holy relics of Saint Spyridon will be brought from Corfu to Bucharest on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
A delegation of the Metropolis of Corfu, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios, will bring to Romania the right hand of Saint Spyridon the bishop of Trimythous and wonderworker for the feast of Saint Paraskeva, on October 11-17, 2019.
Why Metropolitan of Stara Zagora did not get permission to celebrate the Divine Liturgy

October 2019 - 10:31In response to press reports, the Holy Metropolis of Adrianopole said that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew did not give the canonical permission to the Metropolitan of Stara Zagora of the Patriarchate of Bulgaria to celebrate the Divine Liturgy at a temple which comes under their canonical jurisdiction.
