Metropolitan Amfilohije visited the seat of the Church of Antioch in Buenos Aires and a parish in General Madriaga

On 30 November 2017 His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Administrator of South-Central America, escorted by parish priest Esteban Jovanovic and protodeacon Vladimir Jaramaz, upon the invitation of Metropolitan Silouan of Buenos Aires, visited his Cathedral church of Saint George and the seat of the Diocese of the Church of Antioch in Buenos Aires.

Metropolitan Amfilohije liturgizes in Buenos Aires

His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Administrator of Buenos Aires and South-Central America, celebrated on the feast-day of Saint John Chrysostom, on 26 November 2017, the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Buenos Aires.

The Metropolitan was concelebrated by protopresbyter-stavrophor Alexios Pena Alfaro, presbyter Esteban Jovanovic, hieromonk Serafim (Rakanovic) and protodeacons Nikola Radis and Vladimir Jaramaz.

Liturgical gathering in the Saint Sava’s church in Buenos Aires

On Saturday, 25 November 2017, when our Holy Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrates Saint John the Merciful, a holy Liturgy was officiated in the monastery of Saint Sava located in a beautiful suburb of San Telmo in Buenos Aires.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Amfilohije and Bishop Kiril, the Holy King Stefan of Dechani was also prayerfully celebrated in this holy church on the same day. The Holy Liturgy was attended by His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and the Administrator of Buenos Aires and South-Central America, and His Grace Kiril, Bishop of Dioclea. The Liturgy was officiated by protopresbyter-stavrophor Professor Alexios Pena Alfaro, PhD, with the concelebration of local priests. The Liturgy was celebrated in Serbian and Spanish languages.

Restoring Hope, History, and Future

The Gala fundraising dinner that was held on Saturday November 4th, 2017, more than one year after the tragic fire, which defaced Saint Sava Cathedral, was a very successful and uplifting event. Among the three hundred attendees were church leaders, royal family members and caring Serbian and non-Serbian friends, who, by coming to offer their moral and material support, made this evening truly special.

Meeting of the Episcopal and Central Council

On the day when we celebrate the newly revealed Saint of our Church, the Venerable Sebastian of Jackson, all the hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the American continent, met in Libertyville, a suburb of Chicago, Their Graces: Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwest America, Bishop Mitrophan of Canada, Bishop Maxim of Western America, Bishop Irinej of Eastern America and Bishop Kirilo of Diocletia, vicar to Metropolitan Amphilohije and administrator of the Diocese of South and Central America. Following Vespers, an Akathist and prayers offered at the relics of the newly revealed Saint of our Church Mardarije of Libertyville, the bishops began their regular meeting of the Episcopal Council for North and Sout America.

Saint Sebastian Day 2017 Festivities, Jackson, California

The feast day of Saint Sebastian of Jackson and San Francisco, an Equal-to-the-Apostles Enlightener of America, was triumphantly celebrated in the Saint Sava Church in Jackson, California, on the 30^th/17^th of November, 2017.

The first US-born Orthodox Christian monk and priest, together with the Serbian miners who had come from Herzegovina and the Bay of Kotor, founded this small but beautiful church in the peaceful capital of the Amador county in 1894, as the first Orthodox Christian church built by the Serbian immigrants on this continent.
