On Sunday, August 16, 2015, our Church Parish in Portland celebrated the Transfer of the Relics of Saint Archdeacon Stephen, the First Martyr. The Celebration of the Feast day began on Saturday, August 15 with Vespers which was served by Very Rev. Predrag Bojovic from Seattle followed by the promotion of the book "Christian Heritage of Kosovo and Metohija. Fr. Predrag Bojovic and Fr. Daniel Mackey, the priest from Eugene, as well as our parish priest Fr. Milan Unkovic spoke on the book promotion. Girls from our parish Jelena Boskovic, Dusica Drazic and Snezana Danilovic were selected to take part in the program. The promotion of the book was attended by about 40 parishioners.

On 29 August 2015 there was a solemn consecration of the church of Venerable Mother Parascheva – Saint Petka in Rockbank after 25 years of existence of this church community.

This solemn event prayerfully commenced on Friday, 28 August 2015, with the Vesper service attended by Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand with priests and deacons from the Deanery of Melbourn. The consecration of the church was performed  next day at 9 a.m., followed by the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy. Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand officiated the Liturgy with the concelebration of Bishop Michael of the Romanian Orthodox Church and Bishop George of the Russian Orthodox Church. The clergy of the Serbian, Russian and Romanian Orthodox Churches concelebrated .

Metropolitanate Day & the Bishop's Patronal Name Day Celebration Saint Irenaeus of Lyon

The 6th annual Metropolitinate Day celebration is taking place in on the banks of the Yarra River right in the heart of Melbourne this year, continuing on the tradition which began in Adelaide. Melbourne is home to about 40,000 people of Serbian Origin. Representatives from all Australian states and New Zealand will attend the function.

Exhibition: Serbia in the Great War

The exhibition is curated by Bojan Pajic and Richard Cooke who have collaborated in researching the experience of their relatives in the Great War. Richard's grandmother, Ethel Gillingham, from Geelong, Victoria, served with the British Red Cross in Serbia in 1915-16, whilst Bojan's grandfather, Lazar Stefanovic, and great uncle, Dragomir Profirovic, served in the Serbian Army throughout the war.

Exactly five years ago, on the eve of the Lord's great Feast of the Holy Transfiguration in 2010 the great man and respected hierarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Christopher Kovacevic reposed in the Lord. He spent his last days at St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville. He lived in this monastery for over twenty years. He passed away in his room, on his bed, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

In late afternoon hours on 18 August 2015, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, was solemnly welcomed at the Krka Monastery of Holy Archangel Michael.

After the solemn feast day’s Vesper service in the monastery church in prayerful presence of bishops, priests, monks and faithful people of Dalmatia, His Holiness Irinej delivered san opening  address at the solemn academy on the occasion of four centuries since the founding of the Seminary of Holy Three Hierarchs.
