Pentecost Festival at Saint Petka church on Kalemegdan

With the blessing of Patriarch Irinej, on June 20th, the 9th Pentecost Festival began. It  lasted until June 25th.

This traditional manifestation was organized by the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovci and the Ruzica and Saint Petka churches, along with the dean protopresbyter-stavrophor Dr Radomir Popovic and the cooperation of the brotherhoods of these churches and with the effort of protopresbyter-stavrophor Dr Dragomir Sando, professor of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology.

On April 11, 2013, a four-day conference commemorating the 150th anniversary of Constantine Cavafy's birth commenced with a welcome and reading by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Many Belgraders with books in their hands gathered on April 6th, 2013 at Kosancicev Venac, when the National Library of Serbia was completely destroyed and burnt in Nazi bombing 72 years ago. Besides Minister of Culture and Information Mr. Bratislav Petkovic, at the site there were His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, the head of the Lubrary of the Serbian Patriarchate Mr. Zoran Nedeljkovic, head of the National Library of Serbia Mr. Dejan Ristic, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, foreign cultural centers and cultural institutions.

For the last nine years, every 17 March, the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation from Belgrade has been organizing a prayerful and artistic remembrance of the 2004 pogrom of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohia. Also this year, MSc Goran Janicijevic, Associate Professor on subject Fresco Painting, prepared the student’s exhibition, which is hosted at the Saint Sava Memorial Cathedral.

New York: Hilandar – Heritage and Restoration

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Mitrophan, the exhibition “Hilandar – Heritage and Restoration” was solemnly opened on 9 February 2013. The exhibition is co-organized by the Cathedral Church of Saint Sava in New York and the Foundation of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar from Belgrade and will be opened until 5 May 2013 at the parish house of Saint Sava church on Manhattan  (15W 25th Street).
