The Ascension of the Lord – Patron Feast of the City of Belgrade
26. May 2017 - 9:03The Divine Liturgy celebrated in the church of the Ascension of the Lord in Belgrade and a solemn procession through central streets of the City of Belgrade marked Belgrade’s Patronal feast – Ascension of the Lord (photo gallery - Deacon Dragan Tanasijević).
Holy Liturgy was presided over by His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej with the concelebration of Their Graces Bishop Irinej of Eastern America and Antonije, Vicar Bishop of Moravice. The Bishop Irinej pointed out in his sermon that the Feast of the Ascension was the feast connecting heaven and earth.
Crown Prince Alexander Hosts the Patriarch and the Holy Synod at the White Palace

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander hosted a dinner at the White Palace in honour of Arch hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church who are participating in the regular Church Assembly.
The dinner was attended by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia with Metropolitans and Bishops of the Church, Prof. Dr. Mileta Radojevic Serbian Government Director for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities, and members of the advisory bodies to the Crown.

Bishop Lukijan of Osijek-Polje and Baranja fell asleep in the Lord in the afternoon of 24 May 2017 at the Clinical Hospital Center in Osijek, Croatia.
Bishop Lucian (Vladulov) was born on 9 May 1933 in Heifeldt (today's New Kolarci in Banat). He finished the Theological Seminary in Sremski Karlovici as well as the Theological Faculty of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.

His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America, at the gala in the National Theater in Belgrade on May 18, 2017, received the prestigious award of the Anna and Vlade Divac Foundation for the furtherance of philanthropy in Serbia.
This award is presented for exceptional endeavors and contributions to the improvement of living conditions for the most imperiled of our fellow citizens, as well as those who are refugees and displaced, those victimized by flooding, as well as for all who are destitute in any way.
Moscow to greet relics of St. Nicholas today with ringing of church bells throughout city

A piece of the relics of the great St. Nicholas the Wonderworker are to arrive in Russia today from the St. Nichoals Catholic Cathedral in Bari, Italy, where his relics have been kept since 1087.
The relic will be ceremoniously greeted in Moscow by the ringing of the bells in the city's more than 600 churches, reports RIA-Novosti. This is a unique event, as previously reported, in that for the 930 years that his relics have been kept at the Catholic basilica in Bari, Italy, they have never left the city. Every year, hundreds of Russian pilgrims and Orthodox believers from around the world travel to Bari to venerate the honorable relics of the great bishop and wonderworking saint. Thanks to the upcoming visitation of his relics, even more faithful will have the opportunity to venerate them.
The Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church was opened

The Bishops’ Assembly was opened at the Patriarchate of Pec by the Divine Liturgy celebrated on the 14th of May 2017. – The Rite of the Invocation of the Holy Spirit was served after the Liturgy.
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej presided over the Holy Liturgy in the royal stauropegial Monstary of the Patriarchate of Pec with the concelebration of Hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church gathered here on the occasion of the beginning of the regular session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
