RESOLUTIONS
From the 34th Diocesan Assembly of the Canadian Diocese of the
Serbian Orthodox Church held at Holy Transfiguration
Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Milton on February 5-6, 2016.

We, the clergy, monastics and laity - representatives and delegates of all diocesan parishes and church-school congregations, gathered at the Annual Assembly at Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton, under the omophorion of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, administrator of the Diocese of Canada, adopt the following

On Thursday, February 4, 2016 His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, administrator of the Diocese of Canada, visited the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Guelph.

This parish is one of the newest parishes in the Canadian Diocese. Founded in February 2012 at the 30th Diocesan Assembly and with the blessing of Bishop Georgije. Fr. Jovan Marjanac, the parish priest, welcomed the Serbian Patriarch. Together with their priest and many faithful the many children were there in their traditional folklore dress with pogaca, salt and flowers. The Doxology was served by the local priest, Fr. Jovan, together with Protosindjel Vasilije, the abbot of the Milton Monastery and Protodeacon Damjan Bozic. Bishop Christopher, vicar to His Eminence Sotirios, Metropolitan of Toronto (Greek Orthodox Church), Bishop Mina of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Canada, Bishop Mim of Hamilton, V. Rev. Costas Tsasrudias, parish priest of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Kitchener, V. Rev. Vasilios Petropulos, of the St. George Church in Guelph, V. Rev. Stavrophor Dragomir Ninkovic from Kitchener and V. Rev. Stavrophor Dusan Gnjatic from Waterloo.

The Episcopal Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of Oceania, sponsored the Annual Opening of the Legal Year for 2016 with a Pan-Orthodox Prayer Service – Doxology held at St Eustathios Greek Orthodox Church in South Melbourne on Monday morning, 1 February 2016.

Many notable participants: hierarchs, clergy and laity, legal professionals from the Orthodox community, were present to receive the dignitaries from the judiciary, including distinguished Supreme Court justices, and offer prayers for beginning of the new Legal Year.

Patriarch Irinej leaves for a canonical visit to the Diocese of Canada

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, left for a two-week working visit to the Diocese of Canada today, on 2 February 2016.  The Serbian Patriarch is the administrator of the Diocese of Canada since the last year’s session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops. This is the third visit of His Holiness to the Diocese of Canada.

During this visit the Patriarch will hold a regular annual assembly of the Diocese of Canada. In addition, he will visit the Church-school congregations: Saints Cyril and Methodius in Guelph, Saint George in Waterloo, Holy Archangel Michael in Richmond Hill (North Toronto), Holy Trinity in Kitchener, Holy Archdeacon Stefan in Ottawa, Saint Anthony of  Syrmium in Ottawa, Saint Sava in Winnipeg, Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher in Calgary, Saint Sava in Toronto and Saint Peter and Paul the Apostles in Oakville.

In his statement for local media the Kosovo police spokesperson Baki Kelani said yesterday that the armed persons who were arrested two nights ago in front of our Monastery had nothing to do with terrorism and that it was only a case of illegal weapons possession. Kelani also said that „the car with suspects had been seen much before but was stopped by police in the street, which was the most appropriate
location for the police“.

Four armed Islamists have been arrested in front of the main gate to the Decani monastery and the investigation is under way, Abbot of Decani Sava Janjic told Tanjug on Sunday. The Kosovo institutions to deal with the causes of religious extremism, Head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric said.

The four Kosovo Albanians from various parts of Kosovo-Gnjilane, Urosevac, Prizren and Djakovica- were arrested at around 9 pm on Saturday in front of the main gate to the monastery in a car with the Urosevac license plates, he specified.
