The Serbian Patriarch received the Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch received in a farewell visit Alexander Alexandrovich, Ambassador of Ukraine, on February 8, 2022.

The reception at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade was attended by His Grace  Bishop Sava of Marca, Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch.

Patriarch Porfirije: Today we rejoice spiritually as Christians, but we also rejoice as Orthodox Serbs, because today we celebrate the ancestor of our family, the one who gave birth to us in Christ, the one who gave birth to us by the Holy Spirit, the one who once and for all paved the way on which the Serbian people is going and should go. That path is the way of Christ, it is the way of the Gospel of Christ.

Saint Sava, the first Archbishop of Serbia, was celebrated with the Holy Hierchical Liturgy ofificiated by His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch in the covenant church of the Serbian people in the Vracar district in Belgrade, on 27 January 2022.

Following the Requiem Office for the Dead in the Cathedral church of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Sabac, His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch served the funeral service for Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac of blessed repose. 

The Patriarch was concelebrated by Their Graces Bishops: Vasilije of Srem, Pahomije of Vranje, Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla and the Administrator of Sabac, Atanasije of Mileseva, Grigorije of Dusseldorf and Germany, Andrej of Austria-Switzerland, Metodije of Budimlje-Niksic, Jerotej of Toplica and Justin of Hvosno; many priests and hieromonks from many dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, talked yesterday and today, on their request, with responsible political figures from Montenegro: Vice President of the Government Mr. Dritan Abazovic; Minister of Justice, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratic, PhD; President of the Socialist People's Party Mr. Vladimir Jokovic; leaders of the Democratic Front Mr. Nebojska Medojevic, Mr.  Andrija Mandic and Mr. Milan Knezevic; as well as Minister of Economy Aleksadar Stijovic MSc and  former Minister of Justice Vladimir Lepojevic Vladimir Leposavic, PhD.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops of December 21, 2021, to restore church order and unity among parishioners entrusted to the spiritual care and temporary management of His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Mr. Porfirije, the handover of the parish and the church-school community took place in the premises of the Cathedral of Saint Sava in New York, from January 14 to 18, 2022..

Executing the decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops, the parish, and the Church-School Community of Saint Sava in New York, in the name and with the authorization of His Grace Bishop Irinej of East America was handed over by protopresbyter-staurophor Aleksandar Vlajkovic, the Diocesan deputy of Washington. On behalf of His Holiness, Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, they were received by His Grace Bishop Mitrofan of Canada, protopresbyter-staurophor Dr. Velibor Džomić and Archimandrite Nikifor (Milović).

During their stay in New York, His Holiness's envoys celebrated in the Greek church of St. Eleftherios in downtown Manhattan. On that occasion, the faithful people were informed about the handover and called to keep their faith, identity, and brotherly love in Christ the Lord.

Patron Saint-day of Republika Srpska

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Cathedral church of Christ the Saviour in Banja Luka on 9 January 2022, on the feast day of Holy First Martyr and Archdeacon Stephen (phоto gallery).

The Patriarch was concelebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Jefrem of Banja Luka in the prayerful presence of Their Graces Bishops Pahomije of Vranje, Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, Jovan of Slavonia, Sergije of Bihac-Petrovac, and many believers among which were President of Republika Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Viskovic, the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik, Mayor of Banja Luka Drasko Stanivukovic.
