Patriarch Porfirije: We were created for the joy of life, and we achieve that only in Christ

Patriarch Porfirije: Saint Basil of Ostrog showed us what is a goal and meaning of every man. That our goal is holiness. That is why, celebrating Saint Basil of Ostrog today, we find a simple word of God addressed to each of us, a word on how we can establish communion with God and make Him realistically present in our lives.

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church dedicated to this great saint and the Wonderworker at Banjica on 12 May 2021, on the feast day of Saint Basil of Ostrog. His Grace, retired Bishop Konstantin concelebrated to the Patriarch.

Patron Saint-day of the monastery of Saint Basil of Ostrog in Bijeljina

The Patron Saint-day of the monastery of St. Basil of Ostrog in Bijeljina was marked on May 12, 2021 with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy, which was served by Their Graces Bishops Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla and Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja.

They were concelebrated by abbot of the Ozren Monastery Archimandrite Gavrilo (Stevanovic), abbot of the Precious Cross Monastery Archimandrite Nektarije (Tesic), Diocesan dean of Bijeljina protopresbyter-staurophor Ljubo Bogdanovic, parish priest of the church of Saint George in Bijeljina protopresbyter-staurophor Ziko Micanovic, protodeacon Bogdan Stjepanovic and deacon Vojislav Nikolic, in a prayerful presence of the head of this holy monastery abbess Matrona, the sisterhood of the monastery, clergy and the believers. 

Bishop Joanikije: Saint Basil of Ostrog is the new Saint Sava

On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, on the feast of St. Basil of Ostrog, which is the church Patron Saint-day of the Cathedral Church in Niksic, the festive procession of the faithful passed through the city as a sign of respect, love and gratitude to their heavenly protector and patron Saint Basil of Ostrog.

The procession was led by Their Graces Bishops Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic and the Administrator of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, and Bishop Atanasije of Milesevo. 

Saint Sava Cathedral receives The Lucy G. Moses Award from The NY Landmarks Conservancy

For the past 31 years, the New York Landmarks Conservancy presents the Lucy G. Moses "Preservation Award" to approximately 10-12 projects in the five boroughs of New York City that demonstrated excellence in the restoration, preservation, or adaptive use of historic buildings, streetscapes, and landscapes that preserve commercial, residential, institutional, religious, and public buildings. For the year 2020, the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava was one of twelve honored with this award.

Serbian Patriarch Porfirije visits the Diocese of Dalmatia

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, arrived to visit the Diocese of Dalmatia on 9 May 2021.  With great joy His Holiness Patriarch was welcomed by His Grace Bishop Nikodim of Dalmatia with the clergy.

After the solemn doxology in the Krka Monastery, Bishop Nikodim addressed words of welcome to His Holiness the Patriarch: "Your Holiness, on behalf of the faithful people, clergy and the monastics of the Diocese of Dalmatia we thank you for coming and for the effort with which you brought us, the Serbs in Croatia, back to the map of existence and made people know about us and that, after all the unpleasant events that took place in this area, they think of us and visit us, as You are doing it today. "

Patron Saint-day of the chuch of Saint George in Budapest

On Saint Thomas Sunday, 9 May 2021, the Patron Saint-day of Saint George the Greatmartyr and Victory-Bearer was celebrated in Budapest.

His Grace Bishop Lukijan of Buda and Administrator of Timisoara celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of protonamesnik Radovan Djordjevic (priest of the Diocese of Zica), priest Ljuba Milisavic and Zoran Zivic, hieromonk Varnava Knezevic and deacon Stefan Milisavic.
