Fred Boissonas Exhibition on Mt. Athos in Paris
15. September 2011 - 11:25Mount Athos Center will be presenting photos by Fred Boissonas taken on his visits to Mt. Athos in 1928 and 1930, in Fondation Hellenique, Paris, from September 17th to October 30th, 2011.
Fred Boissonas, was the most important photographer of Greek landscapes during the first decades of the 20th century, capturing people and places through his lens.
Vuk's Assembly begins

Symposium on female monasticism in Zica monastery

August 2011 - 11:47The monastery of Zica, the endowment of Saint Sava and St. Simon (king Stephen the First Crowned), formerly the seat of the first Serbian archbishopric and the coronation site of the first Serbian king, today is the greatest female monastery in which sisterhood, led by heugomene, mother Jelena, continues with the tradition of the Serbian spirituality, which was based here by the holy brothers. Marking the 800th anniversary of the monastery, its sisterhood organize the first international spiritually scientific Symposium on female monasticism, which is held from September 1-4, 2011, with a participation of thirty lecturers and 250-300 guests from Russia, Greece, Cyprus, Izrael, France, Poland, Romania, Syria, Georgia, Montenegro, Republic of Srpska, Croatia and Serbia.
Exhibition of icons of Msc Todor Mitrovic at ULUS gallery

August 2011 - 15:58Last night at the ULUS gallery, at 37 Knez Mihajlova str., an exhibition of icons of Msc Todor Mitrovic was opened, docent on the subject Iconography at Higher school - Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and conservation. The exhibition is an integral, practical part of a doctoral art project at the Belgrade's Faculty of Fine Arts, on the subject Icon -between print, pictures and letters.
20th Аnnual Serb Fest draws record crowds
9. August 2011 - 10:31The 20th Annual Serb Fest at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, an annual celebration of Serbian culture, music and cuisine established in 1991, closed on Sunday night after having drawn record crowds over the four-day festival.
Over 50,000 visitors attended this year's Serb Fest which lasted from Thursday to Sunday, with hundreds of people even braving the Sunday afternoon rain showers to enjoy good music, food and fellowship before the event closed.
An Orthodox icon-painting course launched in Pattaya, Thailand
9. August 2011 - 8:30A course on icon-painting has been opened in the church of All Saints in Pattaya, Thailand. Among those who are interested in painting icons are Thai and Lao people. The teacher of the course, Roman Bychkov, gives special attention to the locals who show artistic abilities, the official website of the Orthodox Church in Thailand has reported.
The Russian Parish of All Saints in Pattaya was established in 2008. In December 2009, Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk (now metropolitan), head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, performed the Great Consecration of the church. The parish is served by Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), rector of St. Nicholas’s in Bangkok, and Rev. Daniel Vann.
