Diocese of Krusevac is established

On the day when our Church celebrates Saints Cyrus and John the Wonderworking Unmercenaries on February 13, 2011 a new diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church was formed in a former capital city of St. Tsar Lazar, Krushevac. The decision about establishing was made on the autumn session of the SOC. His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija, was welcomed brotherly and with honor at the Cathedral church of St. George the Great Martyr, where a doxology was served and a founding council was held later. His Grace Bishop Jovan will be an administrator of the Diocese of Krusevac until spring session of the Assembly of the SOC, on which bishops will choose Bishop of this diocese.

St. Sava's Day in St. Sava Cathedral on Vrachar

The Divine Liturgy in the St. Sava Memorial Cathedral, which was served by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, besides lots of faithful people also was attended by pupils of the primary school of St. Sava from Vrachar.

Upon the invitation of Mr. Dragan Djilas, Mayor of the Capital City of Belgrade, His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, on the Eve of the feast day of Saint Sava, the first Serbian Archbishop, attended the St. Sava's Day reception at the Belgrade City Hall.

Commemoration of the victims of the Novi Sad massacre

At the Raid Victims Quay in Novi Sad, on January 23, 2011 in the organization of the Orthodox Diocese of Backa and Jewish municipality of Novi Sad, a commemoration of the victims of this city who were killed by the Hungarian occupation forces on this day 69 years ago. The commemoration with the concelebration of Bishop Porfirije of Jegar and priests of Novi Sad, was served by His Grace Bishop Irinej of Novi Sad and Backa.
