Metropolitan of Brazzaville meets Prime Minister of Congo

On May 24, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Brazzaville and Gabon had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Congo, Clément Mouamba, at the Prime Minister’s Mansion in the capital.

During the meeting, the Metropolitan expressed the local Church’s gratitude to the President of the Government and the President of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, Mr. Denis Sassou N’guesso, for the assistance and honor they provided Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, during his recent visit to Congo-Brazzaville, reassuring indeed the excellent relations between the Church and the State.

Patriarch of Alexandria at the Greek community of Dar es Salaam

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, at the final stop of his visit to the Holy Archdiocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania, visited the town Dar es Salaam.

On the same evening, the Primate of the Alexandrian Church was welcomed by the Ambassador of Egypt to Tanzania, where he attended the wonderful dinner provided in his honor at the ambassadorial residency.

Illustrated book of Prophet Jonah published in Siberian Yakut language

The Institute for Bible Translation (IBT) is continuing its blessed work of translating the Holy Scriptures into the languages of the indigenous peoples of Northern and Far Eastern Russia. Following on the heels of the translation of the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts into the Lak language, released in April, the IBT has released an illustrated translation of the book of the Prophet Jonah into the Yakut language, the Institute’s website reports.

The book of Jonah was also translated and published with illustrations in the Siberian Chukchi language last year.

8,000 Images and religious relics at the Korça Museum

Eight thousand icons and religious relics, of rare value, belonging to the Orthodox Church of Albania and have not been returned after the fall of the atheist regime, are hosted at the Medieval Art Museum of Korça, which attracts many tourists.

In the museum’s restoration workshop, a group works to restore those images (about 1,000) that have been damaged both by time and by the environment they were in.
